Galactic, Favorite Version:
4/5/2002, Austin, TX.
The alien mothership lands. Kyle sweeps all frequencies. Billy makes outrageous noise on the neck of his guitar with a slide.

My vote is for the Galactic > So What > Galactic sandwich from Hayfork, CA (7.30.03). This is the show that was riddled with sound problems, leading to the unplugged and acoustic Blackberry and Dark Hollow.
There are funkier and spacier Galactics, but I can’t think of one that is more mellow (without being boring) or groovy. Kyle just simply shines on the rhodes and they move subtly (nearly seamlessly) into, then out of, So What. This is one that would make Miles proud.

Also enjoy that one Hoopin^^^
I really enjoy it when Galactic comes out of nowhere. The version at Jerry’s B-Day Bash this year was pretty damn hot…emerging out of nothing with a HUGE intro and then a great version of the tune.
Somewhere in the summer lights
The wind blows so gently through the cloudy skies
I see the moon shining in your eyes

My vote is for 4/20/02, I love the intense build up in that version that I have not heard with any other version…4/6/02 is a close second as is 5/4/01 with DJ Logic (would love a SBD copy of this!!!)June 17, 2017 at 4:29 pm #2651

Kyle plays a NASTY funk groove in the middle section of this version. What a way to start off a raging second set:
Set II: Galactic, Midnight Moonlight, Land’s End > Shine > Land’s End > Boo Boo’s Pikanic, Dirk.
The one from Austin 02 mentioned above is one of my favs too
